Flood of 08

A day at the lake, What fun we had. Scott was busy working, but Jay and I had a great time with Grandma Chris and Papa Ron. The weather was beautiful, low 80's with bright sun. We boated, floated, ate, boated, floated ate...oh yeah dodged large branches and dead trees too... Not a day for tubing or skiing in our mind. The flood situation has caused high waters in so many places. The damn has been closed here at the lake for weeks, to keep from filling another river that fills into the Mississippi. The water wasn't the prettiest- not that it ever is here, but no news of mass quantities of ecoli.... All in all it was a great day on the water, as well as a little history making. Jay is very into the flood, and all it has done. We pray that the water continues to go down and all families effected get settled back into their homes.

This would be my mom with sweating palms. She was sure we wouldn't make it under the bridge. I'd say the bridge is normally 20 feet above us. Large boats we not able to go under.

I don't know if you can tell, but where the dock turns, is new dock. The lake has raised so much that they have had to add 4 new pieces of dock. I heard someone say they were a few inches from where the Lake stood in the flood of 93. Jay is pointing to the "parking lot"

Yes, this is a handicapped parking sign in the lake. The lower lot at the marina is under water, as well as many more things. Jay knew exactly where we usually park yesterday and thought it was so funny. The ramp is almost gone, so boaters were just driving and loading right at the former parking lot....
