Wednesday, Jay's buddy Drake came by for a visit. The weather was the coolest we had had yet. So we stayed in for a while. We made homemade soft pretzels, then went to feed the calves. After that the sun came out, and they jumped and jumped. Angie and I imagined ourselves on a beach sunning, while we were wrapped in jackets and blankets.
Thursday Jay decided to go to school. It was BIKE DAY!!! We can never miss that!!! So not only can he ride his bike without training wheels, he can now start himself too. I enjoyed the day, getttin a massage, and shopping in the evening while Daddy and Jay took a trailer load of calves to Bowling Green. It was made all the more memorable, by the truck battery dieing, and not taking to a jump. A new battery had to be purchased. Thank goodness for Mark and Brad.
On Friday we paid both Great Grandma's a visit. We took Grandma K, to the mall for lunch. After dining at Maxx and Ermas, yuck... I decided to let Jay jump on the bungee trampoline. Being his 3rd time he is getting pretty brave. After that fun ride, we headed over to the Easter Bunny. Jay seems to be as wise as his old mother, was at 4. He has his doubts, about that furry thing being real. He "just knows it is a costume" We are choosing to say that yes it is, he is the real guys helper. With all the excitement, Grandma and I couldn't help but jump in too. 4 generations, minus the 2nd ( my mom).
In between visintg both Great Grandma's on my side. We met up with my BFF from high school and her two kids.
This is Jay with Rhyen and Brandon. We met at Ft Zumwalt park and had fun playing on the playground, feeding the geese and ducks as well as avoiding really strange kids. How terrible of us!
Saturday night Scott and I headed to Columbia for a surprise 40th birthday party. We ate at Jazz. It's a delicious, but very low key, Cajun restaurant with a New Orleans, Mardi Gras theme. I ordered the "Coonass Chicken", partly because of the name and partly because it sounded good. It was delicious. A grilled chicken breast over rice pilaf, topped with a cream sauce with large chunks of crab and shrimp in it. YUMMM!!! I'd take me some more COONASS any day of the week.
I thought that all of my hens had started laying. BUT it looks like one young pullet just started. Do you see the tiny egg? It is half the size of the others. 2 days in a row now, I have found a mini egg in an unusual laying spot. Good job girl!
Tomorrow Jay and I are off to get a few more baby chicks. We cleaned, and prepared a box for them tonight. I think we will be getting more Rhode Island Reds and some more Areacunas. Anyone need to order their Easter eggs?
During our last and final night of Spring Break, we invited Grandma Sharon, Grandpa George, Aunt Sara and Abi over for dinner. After dinner, we headed out to the chicken house, to introduce the ducks- Henry and Henry to everyone. Abi was brave enough to hold one and to hold a hen. It must have been the boots giving her the strength.
