Speaking of steaks. I was watching Scott feed hay, and had to get a shot of the cattle's breath. Jay loved the look of them smokin'.
This morning, Jay saw the snow and had to get out in it.
Jay all decked out for some tree clearing. What a guy!
The brush pile we made today. Wonder when the bonfire will be?
Today, after a delicious breakfast of oven baked omelets and made from scratch cinnamon rolls with cream cheese icing we headed over to the land, to start the huge, project of clearing trees. You see, this specific plot of land hasn't been touched by anything but nature in years. There are trees all over the place. Some are huge, scraggly and ugly, and the others are a mess. The young trees have trunks that range anywhere from 2 inches to 6 inches and they are tangled together by some really annoying, nasty vines.
Mom and dad, offered to come up today in below freezing weather, and help begin the process. We had 2 chain saws, ready to run, but only 1 would start. Mom, Jay and I cleared while the men sawed and pulled. As I poured some blue stuff on the stumps to keep them from growing back, I counted the number of trees cleared. I hit 100 and stopped. I'd say it was around 120... but then again, I stopped counting. We made a lot of progress, but just a dent in what needs to be done. It was hard to believe that the temperature topped out at 14 degrees today, we worked for a good 3 1/2 hours, before heading back home. Mom and dad really worked their tails off, pretty good for ol' folk :) Jay was cold, more than us, so spent time in the truck, happily playing with the horn and radio. I'd say the wildlife around had an awakening today.
Thanks so much to mom and dad! It was very exciting getting to see some cleared land, and the future site of our home!
